Skill development
We intend to create opportunities for young people, women, and marginalized groups by equipping them with marketable skills in photography, guiding, conservation, and craftsmanship. These individuals will not only support our fieldwork but will also become independent creators and entrepreneurs.
For example;
- A youth from Kwidera community; an underrepresented community that surrounds Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda's top tourism hotspots trained in photography will be able to document human rights issues, sell content globally, and support their family.
- Women in Karamoja trained in eco-crafts will gain direct access to markets via our travelers even though said travelers don't necessarily visit Karamoja as a region. This shall be enabled by employing our website to efficiently market the crafts made by these women to our travelers before they arrive in the country!
Advocacy
We will build a visual legacy of East Africa, showcasing not just wildlife, but authentic human narratives. Through YouTube documentaries, Instagram campaigns, and short films, we will highlight themes such as climate change in Karamoja, women's empowerment in Maasai communities, and youth innovation in Kampala.
Partnerships
We will partner with grassroots organizations, conservation NGOs, and social justice movements.
For example:
- Working with tree-planting NGOs in Mt. Elgon to create "safaris with a reforestation footprint."
- Collaborating with human rights groups to produce advocacy films
Through this approach, Sacred Gem Safaris will prove to all stakeholders in Eas at Africa's tourism, from travelers to community members living around tourist destinations that tourism can be both luxurious and life-changing.
